This project was a phased addition and renovation to an existing high school in Lloydminster, Alberta. It comprised an addition of 8 general purpose
classrooms and a host of specialized learning spaces around a double-height central student commons. Learning spaces included STEM and STEAM labs, a metals shop, art studio and kinesiology lab.  The project also included an ‘Innovation Lab’ – a facility where students learn to design video games – a large and rapidly growing economic sector of the future.  WKA worked with a construction manager to tailor the design to an very tight and fixed construction budget, with a series of value engineering and redesign exercises. It was completed on time and under budget.
