Whitby Station Gallery
Whitby ON, 2004
The Whitby Station Gallery is a community-focused municipal gallery originally housed in an old 1903 railway station. This project combined the relocation and renovation of the old station building with a substantial new addition, to create a 1,200 m2 facility. Coordinating the move of the historic building was part of the project. The addition took the form of a separate building, connected by a glass walkway to the old train station. The new architecture, while contemporary in style, references railway stations and trains in its form, materials and detailing. This project was carried out by Andrew Wallace as Project Architect, while working with Goldsmith, Borgal & Co. Architects in Toronto.
